- Anja Rynaarts...
"Winners
must have two things: definite goals and a burning desire to achieve
them."
" My name is Anja Rynaarts, I am a mother of two (Kelly 19
& Robin 18) and am 46 yrs old from Dutch decent.
I emigrated to New Zealand in 1990 and reside in Lower Hutt with
my partner Mike whom I met a my local running group. Over the years
I have been actively jogging, but not seriously and only if it fitted
in with my busy lifestyle.
In November 2005 I made the decision to train towards completing
Ironman New Zealand in March 2007. I engaged a coach (Michael Jacques)
in December 2005 and a swimming coach (Ali Dennis). I achieved my
goal of completing the Ironman New Zealand in March 2007. I have
now set my sights on qualifying for the World Championship Ironman
in Kona, Hawaii.
In the build up to Ironman, I competed in Christchurch Marathon
in June 2006, where I won my age group title.
I have also completed in Duathlons and Triathlons and also the
Rotorua half Ironman in December 2006 where I won my age group and
the overall Womans Veteran Title.
I was fortunate last year to come into contact with Martin Frauenstein
from Gemini Power Training who offered to sponsor me in my events.
Since then I have used his facilities focusing on Static
Contraction Training and Simulated
Altitude Training, which has helped me enormously
towards achieving my goals.
There is no doubt in my mind that Martin Frauenstein from Gemini
Power Training has helped me enormously to be able to compete at
the highest level of my ability and without his facilities and his
expert guidance I would not have achieved the level of fitness I
currently have.
The Static
Contraction Training builds up my muscles with
the result of having more power in those muscle groups. In particular,
the Simulated
Altitude Training has helped me gain better
results in my races and it also aids me in faster recovery time,
and as a bi-product my sleep patterns are better.
I look forward to the future focusing on other long course triathlon
and duathlon events, as well as competing at the New Zealand Ironman,
and qualifying for Kona Ironman. "
